Our Christmas Recital was online this year. A lot of practice and preparation went into making it just as successful as our in-person recitals. Here are some of the performances.

Celebrating Samantha

Samantha performed "Canon in D" for the Piano In Color students last month. It was great for them to hear a student who began right where they are now, and to hear how she has progressed.

Keep up the good work Samantha! We are super proud of you. YAY!

Spotlight on Nuola

Nuola played "Mary Had A Little Lamb" at our "Thanksgiving Tea Party" a few years ago. It is a joy to hear her Piano Journey progress!

We have so many videos of the students performing recitals, or practicing in the lessons.

Eventually I will post them all online, but today I came across an old performance by Michaela which delighted me as I remembered her early piano days 😀

Recital Day blues

Sunday 5 April was supposed to be our big recital day. The Mini Mozarts had learned their piano parts, we had worked on singing the songs, the Praise Piano students had prepared 6 beautiful pieces incorporating violin, cello, flute, saxophone and vocals, and then the big lockdown came :(

We intend to perform this recital as soon as we can, but in the meantime, I want to share how the students sounded a month ago after just three rehearsals. I am super excited about how they will sound when they finally get a chance to perform this recital on stage.

Aurora and Andell have practiced very diligently each week since they began lessons in September, and they are the first students to complete the Music For Little Mozarts Book 1 this school year. Hurrah!

In January, they will start working on Music For Little Mozarts Book 2 and the Music For Little Mozarts Recital Book. I am excited to see which class will be the next class to complete Book 1 :)

Twenty-Three Shoeboxes! Yay!

A gigantic THANK YOU for your phenomenal support of our Operation Christmas Child project. You all stepped up in an amazing way and helped us to fill 23 shoeboxes with gifts for children across the world who would normally not receive gifts this Christmas.

I was touched by the enthusiasm of the students as I shared the goal of Operation Christmas Child. Many asked if they could bring iPhones and Tablets for these children, but I didn’t think you parents would want to fund that, so we stuck with school supplies, toiletries, socks, dolls, balls and other small toys :)

Special thanks to Joe, who took time to fill out the coloring sheet and the note for the recipient of his shoebox gifts. That was so thoughtful :)

Miss Lisa delivered our boxes to the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center in Odenton, and she also put a track on some of the shoeboxes so we can find out which country those boxes go to.

The students were on a challenge to see which “lesson day” could bring the most items.

I am pleased to announce that the winner is.... drumroll please.....TUESDAY with a whopping 58 items.

Woohoo! Tuesday students will get to spin the “Operation Christmas Child Wheel” this week at their lesson, and claim their prizes from the prize box.
